Lee Industrial Contracting Moves Ship for Northrop Grumman

Not your ordinary machine move - Lee Industrial Contracting takes on a massive ship move for Northrop Grumman.

Pontiac, Michigan, February 4, 2008 -- Lee Industrial Contracting Lee Industrial Contracting has proven that they can do more than just typical industrial projects.

In December 2007, Lee was challenged with developing an engineered plan to transport a 100 foot long ship from a classified hanger for Northrop Grumman in Gulfport, MS.

Massive Ship MoveIn order to engineer such a huge feat, Lee Contracting had to develop proprietary methods for shoring and rigging this vessel across a dry port.

Assisted by a 160,000 lb. capacity equipment mover, framework to create a ship cradle, and custom-made 300-ton dollies were engineered to relocate the ship to its final destination.

Lee's Rigging Crew This mission was extremely successful and done without any error, thanks to the time and attention to detail by the company's rigging team. "The company was represented with the most impressive crew..." said Glen Peebles of Northrop Grumman. Mr. Peebles went on to say, "I was extremely impressed with the way they came in, assessed what needed to be accomplished, brought all of the materials to do the job most efficiently, and did it in a safe and timely manner."

As Lee Contracting continues to grow, adding two new branches in Grand Rapids, MI and Tupelo, MS, they continue to excel in the world of turn-key solutions for plant projects.
