Since 1992, employers have participated in Take Our Daughters to Work Day. In 2003, the day was expanded to include boys and became known as Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. This day is a chance to show kids “the value of their education,” and to help them “discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life.”
This years’ event was hosted on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Lee Contracting had over 20 kids participating in the day. The day started with a snack and a speech from our Operations Manager, Andy Keilman. The kids had a chance to hear how important their parents are to Lee Contracting.
The kids were then taken on a guided tour of our facility and were able to see some of our in-house equipment up close and personal. During the tour, there were stops in each of our different departments to talk about the equipment they use and the type of work they perform for our customers.
After lunch, the kids were given cardboard blocks and a blueprint of a stamping press and feed line. They had to work together to build the line.
After working hard on building the press and feed line, the kids had some well-deserved downtime to play on the football field at Wisner Stadium and finished their day with snow cones.
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day was a success and a hit with the kids. We look forward to next year’s event.
